been...cityboy? Well, seven straight days of work, more than I would have imagined have kept me very busy. Weekends could not add something because of overload of tutoring at library at 145th and Amsterdam. Quite a haul---these seven days, but managed to get through it very well, cementing relationships with many of the students there.
What else---well Sunday---a week--not the snow day, the one moist day of the year, took a long walk through Brooklyn---began after tutoring session at Brooklyn and Maple, over to Rogers and for a coffee and cream cheese stop at Gratitude, after that, west to Flatbush, joined Ocean when it intersected, followed Ocean up to Church, then further south to Cortelyou ( a little longer then it appeared) . West on Cortelyou for about seven blocks, to what we must refer to as the epicenter of Ditmas Park. Stopped off at their Connecticut Muffin for a chicken curry and bagel sandwich, then walked a bit more, all of a sudden was stopped by fatigue---I guess all that walking caught up with me.Returned to C Muffin for a coffee and really nice Cherry Cheese danish---then could just make it to subway stop on Q. Only a little after 2 o'clock, yet the long walk had taken its toll. Luckily the Q made good time into Manhattan and got home and quickly rested. Did not go out the rest of the day---Micah called me around 9 and asked me to sub for Jen, the rest, as they say, is history---seven straight days, including being called at 8:15 on Wednesday morning to sub for Rochelle, and her two first grade classes.
Other interesting moments in this time period, well not too many, because with tutoring after classes, had very little left--six days in a row, simply returned home and rested and stored my energy for the next day (always have tremendous energy in the morning).
Sunday, this week, in the snow, trudged out to Jack in Clinton Hill for a somewhat bizarre semi-karaoke performance of The Wintereise, but Dave Molloy and his two compadres. Fun, a little off the wall, Schubert purists might be a little provoked, but glad I went, had a nice discussion with Mimi, one of the artistic directors of Jack (along with her husband Alex) who also designed scenes for many productions that I have seen. Thought it best to take a bus on Fulton back to Nevins, but when it did not come, went into C station, which I feared might be a little deserted at that time (it wasn't) and returned home very quickly.
Tonight Rocket to the Moon, which is one of three plays that I want to catch in the next two weeks--then, depending on weather and what my work schedule is, will try to see either William's play at Jack on go to the Bushwick starr of Christina Mascotti's play. See you there....
