a trip to Bushwick makes. After lesson (somewhat traumatic, more about that some other time) with student, was tired, head very slow, did not know if I could make it out to Bushwick for reading of new play, but after about a half hour of rest, felt really strong, decided to make the trip.
Easy trip, got there very early, actually walked from DeKalb stop to Cobra. Immediately started a conversation with a nice guy named Jonah---after a few minutes it was determined that he knew Kiely, Oscar Eustice's daughter, whom I had met in the summer of 2012, when she was an ACR at the Fringe. She and I had some solid conversations, apparently, according to Jonah, she now lives with her boyfriend in Brooklyn Heights. Really interesting, bartender then very nice, gave me a free coffee (was not going to drink much of it anyway) then I headed to the Starr. Immediately felt at home, even more when Bailey, Shayla's ex roommate and buddy, joined me, good conversation with her, she is always friendly--then the reading itself, extremely well acted (so why wouldn't the curator of the series give the actors' names) very intense language play, written expressly to be performed in and odd "downtown" space. Watching the whole thing, after the conversation with Bailey, made me feel completely unique, in a whole different dimension. This was really who I "am", if you get my drift. Walked up Starr Street to subway feeling very revitalized---really pleased with myself for getting myself out there.
Slept without a break, so important that I stay out, it seems, right now feeling very strong and optimistic, spring break from Friends seems to have come at the perfect time.
Tonight, after my sessions, hope to visit Merlin, my actor friend at South fourth, should be fun hanging out there, first time in a while.....
