at Friends, yesterday, two good sessions with the eighth grade; really building (or perhaps already have built) a wonderful rapport with them. Other things not so wonderful---well, we will not talk about that now, as things could change at any moment. Wonder how the weather will effect the school being opened next week. Might be nothing, or might be stranded in my apartment. Better get some really good books to read, if we are going to battle down the hatches. have one, already, Katrina After the Flood, by Gary Rivlin---so far very sharp, readable, observant picture of aftermath of Katrina in New Orleans. Still lots of book to go. Might bring something else to complement that, if needed, not sure what. Might want to read Reynold Levy's book about the re-making of Lincoln Center, under his tenure as Chairman of its Board (I am at the Lincoln Center Library now, using one of its computers) or perhaps something else. Or maybe Joaquin will miss us, and life will simply go on as usual.
Not much after tutoring, returned home and mostly rested.
Tonight, the first meeting of BAN after the rally on the 17th. Should be interesting, The weekend, very up in the air. Should see two Fringe Encores on Sunday, but the rest of the weekend---well, so many choices, my friend Ellie is directing a piece at the outdoor festival sponsored by En Garde Arts. Should check that also, also the Met, also about three or four off Broadway productions that seem interesting, or that have friends of mine in it. Also the weather.
Should return to e-mail and right not contact Leah J from Friends and said friend Ellie. Will see how all this comes out....
