quite a...

weekend, as we go into week 2 of the vacation. Saturday, would have liked to visit La Flaca, but tired, settled instead for seeing Ethan Hawke's movie about Seymour Bernstein---interesting, great for someone like me who knows a lot of the solo piano repertory, but Bernstein for me came off more as a "protected" guru. somewhat insulated from real life. I understand his passion for classical music, it is totrally honest, and it is clear that he bonds with it---he seems to be very sensitive as a teacher, still his world view, at least as presented here, seems totally dominated by music, a bit too much for me.
I wonder if Richard G has seen the movie, what he and Marcia would think. And I wish that Hawke had stayed on certain subjects a little longer.
Sunday, with no lesson, ran wild around Brooklyn, first stop, South Fourth where I had three interesting conversations, good one with Kathy, had not seen her for a while, felt very strong and relaxed talking to her, then one with gentleman who is producing a movie that will be shown at BAM on Thursday, will try to catch it. Then headed for shoes, looked for a Payless on Broadway around Hart street, did not appear to be there, finally settled for a walk down Utica to Fulton, and a bus ride to the Payless right off Bedford. Bought my shoes, went over to BAM for a schedule, visited friendly book store on Fulton, could not decide to buy any books, then inisted to myself that despite the cold, and the fact that I was tired, should return to South Fourth. But how...? Took local C at Lafayette to Junction (not that long a ride) and returned to Williamsburg via the J. Was the trip worth it. Probably, had along talk with Kim and CLint about musicals, and then spoke briefly to Phoebe, who I had not seeen since January---she seemed happy to see me. Then it was time to return to Manhattan.
Only plans for tonight are to visit the girls (Helen and Shayla) at Sweetwater, and hang out. Hope that they are there...that is all, time soon to return to Manhattan...
