Last night at City Center at the Encores presentation of Paint Your Wagon, the musical Lerner and Loewe wrote between Brigadoon and My Fair Lady. What music! Returned to my childhood when I heard the record as a seven year old, over and over again, and then saw it on a Memorial Day matinee right before it closed. Don't remember too much from that but dancing was very intense. A little annoyed at the direction and choreography which, I felt, tended to "pitch" the show, but it doesn't matter, the whole experience, listening to that orchestra, and the music streaming up to me in the second balcony, was simply amazing.
What next---well tonight going to Social Security at Bushwick Starr, slightly different kind of venue, of course, but looking forward to it. Got a nice text from Bob at La Flaca, checking in with me, should visit there soon, maybe Saturday after my marathon of tutoring for the day.
Vacation continues to effect a "different" vibe for me---independance....? Maybe not exactly sure, feel full of energy today.
Seems like I have run out of ideas, will continue tomorrow....
