mid Saturday blahs.....

well, maybe that is because the last 48 hours have been filled with excitement. Need to calm down. No "must" play, movie, opera or ballet to see this evening (though I think I will try to get a rush ticket for Barbecue at the Public) as I try to assess what has happened in the last two days.
Thursday night: Longish meeting at BAN, plans being made for next event, and statements evaluating the last event. I was tired, thought the meeting went on to long, but learned some interesting facts: for instance, some of the participants at the meeting are part of copwatch in east Harlem, which monitors how police treat the homeless people who stay in that area, in light of the recent pressure put on Di Blasio to solve the homeless problem. They are on duty from 1 to 5 A.M.
Also, there is a petition being signed as we speak relating to the meeting at the "white" houses on Third Avenue (Brooklyn)  having a much fuller say re the proposed half market rate, half affordable housing that it being planned for their parking lot. Thought I might participate in that, but events of the past day have made that impossible. Still might attend the meeting on the 5th; have to speak to Mike H to find out if I am needed.
Friday, woke up wondering when the next job at Friends would be, by noon I was overwhelmed with choices as Constance informed me that afternoon librarian had experienced a crisis, and would be forced to leave. Many choices to work, I picked a few of them; now at least I know I will be there on Thursday and Friday. Feel good about that.
Yesterday night, in addition to the brutal cold that slashed through my large windows, fuse seemed to blow, leaving me with just two outlets, from which, luckily, on could run my two heaters (Con Edison bill going up!) Kept me very uncomfortable for the evening through next morning, in addition to the cold. Handyman came earlier today, showed me that the circuit breakers were just in the wrong place, was that all...? Anyway, fixed now, but still this evening will have to contend with the cold. Many layers of clothes and the heaters, still should be freezing, but at least will have all my lights.
Thinking about seeing a late movie, so that way I don't have that much time in the house, of course could also hang out at one of my bars till late. Option, possibly to be explored.
So here I am---tomorrow may try to see two Fringe Encore plays, will keep you informed...
