here I am....

in the library again--no work today, will be at Friends for the next three days, but only one is a scheduled work day. Today will participate in discussion moderated by Jason Craig, diversity director, on the Te-Nehisi Coates book, Between the World and Me. Should be interesting, will be interested in how other faculty members experience the book. Also, am bringing in a quote from
Coates' earlier autobiography, The Beautiful Struggle, will contribute that if it is warranted. Have no idea how the discussion will take shape  Anyway, will be there around 3.
Yesterday: a good session with one of my students--then returned home, my neighbor Arlene, invited me to watch the debate with her Democratic club at a bar nearbye; I had planned to listen to it on the radio, at home, but took her up on the offer. Arrived there to find a very crowded back room, full of people I did not know. Listened to the first question to all, after the intros---I was really put off by the moderator, thought his attitude was smarmy, and seemed to have a conservative bent (especially when he accused Saunders of not believing in capitalism---rediculous!) so after those questions were answered, left the claustrophobic room and, since I was starving, grabbed a slice of pizza at a nearbye pizza place. Bar nearby was showing important Mets game, so went there, had a beer, watched the game, actually the fate of Clayton Kershaw seemed more interesting to me than that of the five candidates. Anyway, Saunders made his point, he separated himself from the other four, now people can either vote for him or not. I am not a "strategic voter" , one who is worried that if Hilary does not run, a Republican will be elected. At this point I am supporting Saunders.
Not much else to say, after the discussion will probably try to find a place to see the Royal-Astro game, also want to hang out with my friend Erin, who is bartending at the non-sports bar next to Standings.
Will report all tomorrow..
