we are at the Lincoln Center library, while my apartment is being cleaned, on this very nice Wednesday late morning. Much to report---no work at Friends today for the first time---but will tutor later this afternoon.
After that...well, still have a kind of Tribeca Film Festival baby lust---but not sure if I will get to see a movie at the festival which (of course) ends on Sunday.
Since Thursday:
Friday---day at Friends which i was anxious about, working three periods with three different kindergarten classes, but all turned out well, totally exhausted after those three periods, but was able to accomplish much of what the teacher wanted. Body pretty dead after that, went home and slept, Saturday, some tutoring, then watching a little bit of sports at the bar on 149th and Broadway (great Franks there) then coming home, resting, and going to Abrons Arts to see the play Sibyl wrote the text for. Artistic, but hard to sit through, I don't like self appointed geniuses (though that is a pretty strong way to describe the actor creator of this piece) but mind wandered much of the time. Sat with Michael and Abby, afterwards, went to La Flaca, spent some quality time with my friend and owner of the restaurant Bob, and watched the Mets win another.
Sunday, pretty free day, went to Spelling Bee at Friends, really over whelmed by how good it was, can't believe the original cast of adults had more affinity for the material. After, hit sports bar Standings on 7th, watched some baseball and basketball, then off to Fort Greene to see a reading of an antil lynching play at Jack. Some good conversation followed the short (fifteen minutes) play and then spoke more with Alex about the constant gentrification Clinton Hill and other areas in Brooklyn (I pointed out the one south of Eastern Parkway) and what could be done. Hope to return for next anti lynching play in about a month, then took bus to Mullane's yet another sports bar, watched ESPN game and some basketball--and ate an overpriced Cobb salad.
Monday, subbed for Chris at Friends, then tutored, then went home, yesterday, subbed for Kate, enjoyed the kids (sophmores) again want to library, returned home not too tired, wanted to do something, not strong enough to go to Brooklyn, Bunin theater in Lincoln Center had an Agnes Varda movie about LA decided to see it, interesting enough, talked about minority artists in many of the poorer sections of LA, however the doc was getting repetitive, after an hour I left, also getting very tired---returned home, went to sleep pretty easily.
Report over---will see what this evening brings....
